As the Mediterranean Diet is decreasing, especially in Mediterranean countries, governments must promote this diet as a healthy and sustainable lifestyle through education and improved food access.
At this point, economic resources and education levels impact diet choices. Healthier foods are often more expensive, and sedentary behaviors are increasing due to digital device usage and organized sports replacing free play, but genetics play a significant role in obesity, influencing energy balance and weight control. Advances in genetics can lead to personalized dietary plans for better obesity management.
